Dock of my Dreams October 16, 2009 Matt S 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
Okay, maybe I haven't actually dreamed about docks, but if I did this would be the one.
I'm using a 22" Viewsonic plugged into the dock via DVI port, and I have my printer, mouse, keyboard and external harddrive plugged into the dock's various USB ports. I don't have desktop speakers, but am thinking of adding them because I can plug them into the dock too.
all these items connect to my Sony Vaio through a single USB plug. So when I take my laptop away from my desk, I just unplug a single cable to disconnect from my mouse/keyboard/printer/monitor/HD. I would never have thought all those peripherals could connect through a single USB.
Tracking on my monitor is seamless...I see no delays. and I love using my monitor as an extension of my notebook screen...I'm able to keep my email open on one side, and my browser or other applications on the other.
For me, this installed easily and has worked flawlessly (I've been using it for about 2 weeks now).
Finally, I really like the mini-tower design and small size.
Highly recommended!
Works fine with Snow Leopard May 26, 2010 C. Purdy (Somerville, MA United States) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
If you have a MacBook Pro, you can connect a monitor to the notebook via an inexpensive adapter. This Kensington dock product allows you to connect a second monitor to the notebook so that you have a total of three screens including the notebook screen.
If you follow these instructions, then this device works fine with the latest (April 2010 refresh) MacBook Pro notebooks running 10.6.3.
1. Buy and set up the dock but DO NOT INSTALL THE SOFTWARE THAT COMES WITH IT
2. Download the 64-bit driver (currently a beta) from DisplayLink and install it:
[...]
The 32-bit driver (which is not a beta) will work fine on Snow Leopard unless you need a portrait mode (screen rotation). The 64-bit driver fixes that. I'm running 1200x1920 (the max resolution) in portrait mode with no problems.
Previous to this, I was using ScreenRecycler, which is a lot slower. The video speed of this dock isn't "native", but it's acceptable for browsing and word processing, and it even runs YouTube fine in windowed mode (but NOT in full-screen mode -- you can see the lag).
Works Great In Snow Lepard January 28, 2010 Joshua L. Jones (Seattle, WA USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have a late 2006 MacBook Pro and it works great running a 1080p monitor. It's slightly laggy but I don't even notice it even when watching videos. Highly recommend it!
Docking Station November 28, 2009 Doug Kautz (Los Alamos, NM) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
It was very easy to set up and allowed very easy movement between travel and home use.
All Connected January 6, 2010 ColorOrange (Virginia) This was the only universal docking station I could find with five USB ports and it does not include an Ethernet port(don't need it). Installation was a breezy 10-15 minutes. I made adjustment to the display monitor in Windows and then everything was complete. I don't like the price, but it does what I need it to do.
